If they had any sense they would offer him an improved contract but with a buy out figure around the £100m+ figure. That way they get to keep a relatively happy player for a season and he knows that NB will have talked Berta into buying him next summer

Fab Rom: All documents are signed club to club for Eberechi Eze’s move to Arsenal.

Eze, undergoing his medical ahead of signature on contract and registration as it must happen before 12pm to be elegible against Leeds.

I can’t imagine Peter Storey finishing a game on the pitch these days. We’d be ending every first half with 10 players
There was a story about Storey, how he had such a sweet innocent face, so for 2-3 days before a match, he didn't shave, in order to make himself look "hard". Despite his reputation, he was more skilful than people gave him credit for. I remember him dribbling past two opponents without ever looking like he was in control of either the ball or his body. He just seemed to stumble past them. It was a trick he repeated a few times. In those days of Norman Hunter and Tommy Smith, he was what Arsenal needed to get us over the line.

I think that Bertie Mee got lucky in the double season of 70/71. Injuries forced his hand, as Frank McLintock was moved from midfield to centre back, and Peter Storey went from right back to defensive midfield, resulting in Pat Rice coming in at right back. Mee decided the following season to get a "proper" midfielder, Alan Ball, to replace the clumsy-looking but effective Storey. Needless to say, we didn't win anything.

I vaguely remember Alan Ball as a big signing, but it was Malcolm McDonald who was the first one with that magic dust about him. Then Charlie Nicholas was the first one I willed to happen cos he was scoring for fun at Celtic. None of those ever really fully fulfilled their promise. But Ian Wright was the first one that I dreamed would happen and then came in an exceeded expectations. It’s surprising how he recounts hearing some Arsenal fans didn’t want him, as I have no recollection of that.

But Bergkamp and Sol had that magic surprise about them and exceeded expectations. Hope Eze does the same.

George Graham vibes. It was well known that his favourite song was Sinatra's "Nice and Eze".

However, if this is not successful, surgery on the knee will be unavoidable.

Doesn't sound great.

I’d add Brian Marwood in at 6 as I had him in my panini sticker book and my dad tipped me off on his signing and for some reason got super excited, I was 7/8 I think
