Cripes! Brent Hinds died, 51. He's a guitar player/vocalist for the band Mastodon... or he was until March when he left the band (or was oustered) after 25 years.

It sounds like he was killed on his motorcycle by a vehicle making an errant turn.

But I expect him to be unleashed on Saturday and I expect (hope) he'll be close to full fitness for Liverpool, because we need a Gyökeres at full power to beat them, and beat them we can now, especially with our new No 10 :)

I won't because I just can't allow myself to think that way. I want Calafiori to stay fit for the whole season, if he gets injured our chances lessen. Same with Gyökeres. When Arteta drove Saka into the ground with that quote about needing to be like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta and play every minute of every game, there were criticisms, not least from me. But I see Gyökeres as a different type of beast. He's a 27 year old centre forward who needs to play as often as possible unless he is carrying an injury. That's just my uninformed opinion based on my instinct about the type of player he is. And I want to see it.

I think that Havertz (who I hope is not badly injured) being out of the sidelines works for Gyökeres because it means Arteta won't be taking him off at every opportunity. Again, maybe I'm talking shit again, but my instinct is that he needs the full minutes, he needs a run to get him up to speed. I didn't like that Arteta subbed him, especially as Sesko came on. I know why he did it, giving him 15, then a half, then 70 minutes. But he reminds me of a steam locomotive, he needs a while to get up to speed but once he's there he gives it his all and is unstoppable. By then, Havertz should be back and can get 15 or 20 minutes to give him that break once he is scoring. He's our centre-forward, we need him scoring regularly.

Madueke to cover for Saka and Martinelli for Eze. If Gyökeres needs a rest (I hope he just gets stronger) then move Eze in there. Havertz will be back soon enough though and we know Merino can be a chaos merchant up there.

Hoping Calafiori stays fit, he should start. Timber too with Ben White and Mosquera ready for cover. Nørgaard and Merino ready, but want to see Rice-Zubimendi develop a consistent understanding. One key signing has changed the dimension and possibility of our attack. The proof, as ever, will be on the pitch when the whistle blows. But the prospect is exciting.

Weird. So the moderator of the Gunners subreddit is clearly a spud spy. Exactly this, against a lot of teams, especially at home, we should play two attacking midfielders, not one.

Save two defensive midfielders for the tough away games oop north.

It's great. I'm actually pretty content with our business now. Our forward line may still need addressing in the future but I cannot be too churlish.

We have a great defence, real midfield optionality and adequate numbers (if not an absolute abundance of quality) up top.

Sad as it may be to lose a strong back-up, but Kiwior to Palace makes sense.

Liverpool will be pushing hard this week to get Guehi (hopefully CP get the >£50m they desire - and with the Eze money, they are better placed to go hardball for that) then they’ll need a good replacement- Kiwior for £30m+ fits the bill and brings us some income to offset some of the spending.

Every £m extra needed for Guehi adds pressure to the Isak deal completing. Obviously I’d prefer neither going through, but if we had to pick one, would you rather they fixed up their porous defence or added another monster goalscorer to their already frightening front line?

The transfer merry-go-round is starting to pick up its pace.

I was talking shit then, and I’m still talking shit now! I am allowed to change my mind. The Eze signing has been like a salve!

I’m not privvy to all the ins and outs. The Chelsea model seems more like a US version of the C115y one, using shell companies. The idea that the Kroenkes (or Arsenal for that matter) are “cleaner” or more noble, is fanciful.

I think the Kroenkes have been more hard-nosed, hence I don’t think they’ll fall foul of FFP rules. As hard as it is for some to accept (and in the “real” world we should all be shocked at how this version of corporate capitalism works), I think Arsenal are finally getting round to the “if you can’t beat em, join em” school of thinking.

In principle, this all saddens me because it has real-world consequences. But in the same way that I am enjoying the boxing matches arranged by the Saudi regimes whilst being appalled at their human rights records (though the UK and US are in no position to lecture), so I recognise that to compete with the big clubs, we have to find ways to circumvent FFP rules “legally”.

But take it as read: I’m just shooting the shit

Gyökeres won’t be exhausted. He needs minutes. But Eze as a central deep-lying striker with Martinelli on the wing stretching tired defences seems more dynamic than previous options. I don’t know if Arteta will do it, but Eze has the pace, trickery and finishing ability to do it.

rosapirescastlehez @ 07:17 | Aug 21, 2025
And to make it better , they had binned Richarlilson into the deal and now he's left in no man's land, not wanted at Spurs and still there

My eldest wanted to steam off to school this morning to laugh at her class teacher (an Englishman and rapid spuds fan, oddly enough here in Sweden). I urged her to do nothing of the sort, such is the seething rage he is no doubt feeling and the capacity for issuing her a series of D- grades just because.

While the pain of Havertz is upsetting the pain of Sp*rs is just pure joy.

Woke my kid up this morning with the words, "You've got a new hero, son."
Get the fuck in...and stick that right up yer hole, Sp*ds!

Morning all and what a goodly morning it is..

Very dissapointed for Kai, thought he was superb when he came on and was excited to see how he would use his new muscle mass but unfortunately this injury curse struck yet again.

I dont need to say anything more about Eze been beating that drum for ages and delighted with him.

But once we beat Leeds, then face the Pool, think with Timber at LB to lock down Salah as Tomi did few years ago , salah vs a right footed LB, means you turn him into traffic, then Eze high left , he will do hold up play with his dribbling skills and Saka and Vik providing pace and running power, it's a new level from us and think we will do it

" I am happy there’s the potential for his story to come full circle having been let go by the club when he was just 13"

This is what I'm most happy about. It feels right, it feels good and we want players that want to play for Arsenal like mad. So positive about this signing, might even be my favourite of Areteta's tenure so far.

Read it and weep joyfully.

"But this is the talent we have in our “front five” as Ethan referred to it.

Gyokeres
Saka
Martinelli
Nwaneri
Trossard
Eze
Madueke
Merino
Rice
Odegaard
(Havertz)

I’ve honestly never known depth like it. I’ve cried out for it for years. I now we have it"

Well in Bruce. Hi Blogs

Blogs, maybe another Arsecast with Wrighty shortly, or Amy? You have said everything I am feeling today, after having taken myself off social media in self pity for the Havertz news.
But like Amy said, this does really feel like a romance coming full circle. It feels like a real act of god saving Arsenal from Arsenal. Fanbase was ready to tear itself apart after grinding a win at the home of our bitterest enemy.
But the heavens intervened... and Eze has come to set everything right again.
I think we need to hear from Wrighty right now. I will never tire of him regaling his move from South to North London, and the parallels it has to Eze retracing those footsteps.

Now only to hope Fredrikstad don't have some former spuds clogger in their ranks who has bantz contact with Jamie O'Hara or another vindictive former spud and will go after EE tonight
benzed @ 06:49 | Aug 21, 2025
Arse.

What a glorious and hilarious turn of events (Kai aside, natch). Spuds left with egg on the face, as well as those nuggets labelling our window "pathetic" online with 10 days still remaining and 6 players already bought. Truly, an Unprecedented Summer!

Elated we’ve got Eze. I’m gutted for Havertz, but tbh I wasn’t happy Arteta brought him on for Gyökeres against Man Utd. I think Vik has to establish himself as the No 1. I really hope Arteta uses Eze off the left, because to me, Eze, Gyökeres, Saka as a front three, with Ødegaard/Nwaneri behind is a really solid, skilfull and capable unit. I guess we’ll see how he uses them against Liverpool.

Let’s make eeestory 😂😂😂

Arse. WiB.

Morning all.

I hope Havertz recovers quickly, but it's great to get Eze on board. When their both fit it only adds to the strength of the squad. It looks like one of those moments of serendipity where events have forced the board to do an obviously advantageous deal which they wouldn't necessarily have done if the injury hadn't happened.

And we get to laughter at Sperz too 🤣🤣🤣
