if that's the case i hope he can improve his left foot finishing.

apparently our new center back can't 'head the ball for toffee' but i'm sure there's a plan in place to improve that aspect of his game so that he can learn to arially dominate by the time he's ready to replace one of our CBs.

It willl be a dead rubber for sure now. India missed their chance in Tests 1 & 3, and this one is the first when they’re not even competitive.

‘If the budget works get them all in’

I’m wondering about our budget 😊… guessing it’s our winnings and tv money that we are spending??

Hopefully we are staying the right side of FFP. I honestly don’t understand how our record transfer sale is still Oxlaide-Chamberline to Liverpool for 35million. Our highest ever sale? Quite crazy really when you think of the players we’ve had and let go.
I think we sold Giroud to Chelsea for just 15million and they still sold him on to AC Milan for a fee. Cesc? Nasri? Cheap as chips.

I’d love us to sell a player for a really inflated fee!

I can't believe im saying this but remember when city really integrated Grealish on LW.
I think were going to mimick that to a degree with Eze. Eze will hold ball cut in , give and go, 1/2s get shooting space and or thread thru balls or cut backs.

Same time Cancelo role goes to MLS and he raids forward and gives cut back and exploits the 2 v1 pressure Eze is putting on them .

It's alike for like in my mind and City scored most goals that season after teams low blocking them the year previous

Morning all. I kinda understand it, but I don't really buy into the sacred squad number thing whereby only true legends of the game are worthy of wearing 10, 14, etc. (Yeah, Gallas, I know.) It's not the number that carries a weight of expectation, it's the cannon. That's what you have to earn. I'm fine with Vik having 14 (likewise ESR10 a few seasons back). It's either that or we go even further up the number line like our new 36 or record signing 41.

I agree with this. Eze brings a lot more variety and directness if employed on the left. That left berth is not a strict winger role. Martinelli steams up and down that wing, but often like a headless chicken, in and around the box to me he lacks that awareness to make the right final choice. Eze has that ability, that trickiness, intelligence and aggressiveness to beat defenders who double up and to either deliver the final ball or go for goal.

'Maybe the idea is to play him on the left, where has operated before, but the central areas are – if not chock-a-block – sufficiently full for there to be some question about where exactly a player of his quality would find regular starts'.

I know we play a 4-3-3 but I disagree. In the first instance, Eze enhances the technical quality of the squad significantly... and his signing poses a very direct threat to Martinelli and, arguably, Ødegaard... and I think this is necessary. If you're playing in four competitions, I think 7 CM options is about right.

Ruthless though are Liverpool in getting rid of Diaz. I guess Slot has earned the right to do so, winning the league spending relatively little in the process.

I've said before, I am more than happy with this squad as it stands. Gyökeres was the signing for me. But Zubimendi looks so much better already than I imagined. Kepa is a brilliant acquisition who will challenge Raya. Mosquera a perfect understudy to our great world class CBs and Nørgaard brings solidity and set-piece know-how, a perfect second-half substitution when we're struggling to break down defences.

Madueke I'm already warming to and if we get Eze I'll be ok with that. Havertz will continue to get my side-eye, but he's well integrated into this team, knows what the manager needs and most importantly has the manager's confidence.

But if Liverpool do get Isak, then to protect our investments, we may need a little bit more juice on that left-hand side. I'm trusting Berta, Arteta and Josh/Stan as so far they have fulfilled their promise to properly challenge for the title.

He's had a problem with Havertz from day one. I saw a few clips of the Milan match and I have to say, Havertz's touch was atrocious, he lost the ball a couple of time with minimal pressure on him. Seems all that weight training has made no difference to his ability to shield the ball. I'd agree, if we really wanted Isak and needed to sell Havertz to do so, it would be no great loss, especially now we have Madueke, who looks far stronger. It won't happen of course, but there it is.

I’m guessing he wouldn’t, if blog was not in Asia. So this might just be an opportunistic ‘well I am up so on the off chance’. The not going back to bed is even more bizarre though.
Good point. I wish I could be opportunistic when waking up in the middle of the night

Surely with all your trips down South you are fluent in French now. :-p

Thank you! It looks really good, I'm going to check this out.

Looks like each season is available to download on TPB with hardcoded English subs, not sure if I can share the links here or not - is it against terms of service?

Arse. WiB. Who the fuck checks a device when they get up in the middle of the night for a piss?

Morning all.

Welcome big Vik. Opens up a new dimension for the team, stretching the pitch to give more space for the midfield to play in.

It’s available on Prime but it needed an additional subscription so I found it here

“This particular … has long been seen as the missing piece for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. I don’t necessarily agree with that in full, but I can completely understand why it’s an important piece.”

I agree with it in full and still can’t understand anyone who doesn’t see this and I’ve said before it’s been a popular view among a section of fans and experts. I guess we’ll see when he starts to play. Personally, VG14 is an absolute gamechanger.

I am worried about a Liverpool team with potentially Isak, Ekitike and Salah as a front three. I think Eze, Gyökeres and Saka would be pretty formidable too, but maybe that left wing needs someone else.

I liked the fact that Gyokeres only wanted Arsenal despite other last minute offers.
Glad he ‘stuck to his guns’ as it were.
He probably needs a holiday after all the shenanigans from Sporting. If there’s a lesson to be learnt… it’s to forget ‘gentlemen’s agreements’ and get everything in writing.
Doesn’t make much sense to fly all the way to HK. Probably better to meet the staff at Arsenal and get settled in London.

We’ve signed 5 players now. Super.
We’ve sold none.
The squad is too big for us to add someone like Eze. I’m thinking Trossard, Zinchenko or possibly Martinelli need to be sold before anything else happens.

How kind of Arsenal sending me an email apologising for their technical issues (they never do that usually)…and inviting me to enter a ballot I have actually already entered (have now checked, it’s still there, not been cancelled). Utterly useless.

In my arsecast extra catching-up... There were questions about where havertz.fits in the squad, considering Arteta love him so much. Vik vs Kai up top is no contest, in my opinion, and if we had eze and rice for left 8, where we'd be playing havertz is an even more intriguing question.

Rotation, sure, but I have a hard time believing mikel wouldn't field havertz a lot more than simple rotation allows
