Arse!

Cannot be arsed to backarse, so apologies if this has already been arsed.

James’ piece on The Athletic about Mandueke is genuinely encouraging.

Its often forgotten that Henry, great player and Arenal legend (and a total prick IMO for slagging AW for years as a 2-bit pundit even though AW made him and cheating Ireland out of a WC spot) was a relatively mediocre winger before Wenger repurposed him.

The point - ya never know.
Im giving Mandueke full support.
Thats just me. And I’ll eat my hat if it turns out a clusterfuck.

His father is Colombian, his mother Russian, and he was born in Basildon. He's eligible to represent all three countries and therefore must be an irritant to those such as Farage.

This makes me like him, and then to read that he ditched Chelsea to come to us makes me like him even further.

This is exactly it, it's all perception. If we were to manage to still get Big Vik and Eze most people would consider it the best window in quite some time and won't give a flying fuck about what we paid for Madueke.

If we don't sign Eze I'm sure some people will still look side-eyed at the money we gave chelsea.

Be nice if the "why this is brilliant actually" brigade ease up a bit and let things play out. If he's good, everyone's happy. If he's bad, the Chelseaness of it will come up. It's normal. Reducing football to "market opportunities" is not.

As blogs says, we do not really know why the main signing is not yet done. The ‘few million’ may not necessarily be the full story. We are all speculating.

I think there’s a genuine fear that we run out of money before addressing the bigger issue of a striker, maybe that’s why fans are so bothered with the fee.

A lot of it is the order we’ve done things. If you sign Madueke AFTER Gyokeres, after Eze, after Zubimendi…. then it’s a great addition to the front line.
And THEN you sign another defender. Another goalkeeper. Then everything is fine

I think we need to get out of the mindset that he is a 'back up' player. I think we will see him start games ahead of Saka, who will then replace him on 60-70 mins and vice versa. What we've been crying out for.

Is that not a bit myopic though? We have spent £50m on a player who will pad out the squad nicely but seem reluctant to spend an extra few million rectifying the most glaring reason that we didn't win the league last year. Which we needed to address before last summer and we are now in this summer pre-season tour.

On Madueke, we have to consider that if 70% of twitter was actually bots, and if the Russians managed to influence US elections, given how easy it is to create an anonymous/fake profile on any social media… how many of these ‘fans’ are actually rivals looking to stir up shit.

I am all for this signing. I just do not understand our fan base at times. We are forever complaining about lack of depth and game changers on the bench compared to other big clubs. Yet, when the club shows ambition and spends big to raise the floor, we invariably have to discuss our disquiet about the transfer price for a player who may not necessarily be a starter. Let’s focus on player attributes. On this metric, the Madueke signing is a positive one.

And that’s all whilst playing at Chelshit.
Could this be a Henry-esque signing ( signing someone bang average and watching them become a worldly)?
I think it could.

Yeah, I am indifferent to the new signing to be honest which is deflating on a certain level; I'll be cheering for him in the stands in a Havertzy bemused way.

Way to many ads in an article but this gives some Tomi departure info. Looks like pride was a factor.

“An 80-year-old woman is being investigated by police after accidentally letting off pepper spray in a spa in Germany.
According to local media, the pensioner was rummaging through her handbag in order to show the self-defence spray to a friend as they were standing in the entrance of the Keidel Thermal Baths in Freiburg, in southwest Germany’s Black Forest region.
Instead, she accidentally activated the spray, releasing it throughout the foyer. It then reportedly spread throughout the building via its ventilation system.”

I think the mindset that new players are back ups for existing first team players is the wrong way of looking at them. They should be viewed as part of the first team choices who will play when selected.
The only way we get to win anything is if the squad is filled out with players with the quality so if they are drafted in as a starter we don’t all have the feeling that the side is seriously weakened.
No more needing to play someone with the ability of Nelson instead of Saka and the resultant drop in quality
sly @ 08:16 | Jul 19, 2025
A good shout to turn it off, I would say - it just stopped eventually. I guess it was a case of 'In Bruges was popular, lets whack something together challenging that hilarious relational dynamic'.
