Gatwick is near impossible to avoid paying. I couldn’t even find a place to drop off a relative wanting to use the train station. I think the only way to avoid charges is to drop someone off at a long stay car park and let them get a shuttle bus to the terminal

All I can go by is the excitement I'm feeling, but my feelings often betray me. I'm surprised by some of the fan reaction being so underwhelming online and in person. I wonder if it's my recent positivity, but then I had a meltdown today dropping my nephew at the airport when I think I may have stopped in a place that might get me a fine. So I can't be in a 100% positive state. But I'm very positive about our squad, especially if we add Eze and who knows, the rumours are of one more addition after that. But as it stands now, I'm excited to see how they play together, I haven't ever been this excited about pre-season, all the business practically done. Unheard of!

LOL I've seen the pics and Kai does look like he's put on 15 pounds of muscle. The gaunt face is gone. He looks like a beast.

Other thing I love about him is most of his goals are scored by just creating a half yard of space on the defender... bang goal. Not a lot of tap ins and acres of space. He is the one creating those openings and dispatching them clinically.

You will be convinced. I'm worried I might get over-keen here. There's always a chance he could flop. But to me the aggression and physicality, the way he bullies his way past crowded defences and steams forward when he has space with one focus to score is exactly what we need. He will occupy defenders giving the other forwards space. And in turn those other forwards will be happy to feed him in with plenty of chances. I could be completely wrong, whenever I'm this convinced I worry. But really, truly? I can't see anything else than a monumental raising of our forward play to elite. And btw Havertz is looking as athletic and strong as he's ever looked so there's always back-up!

But to be honest I'm almost more impressed by his relentless play- which is going to fit in perfectly well with us. I don't watch much Bundesliga but the metrics say Sesko is probably a bit of a stroller and leans on his height dominance quite a bit.

Do you remember Gyokeres against us? He would not stop going at Gabriel and Saliba even though we were giving his team a right walloping. He even came down 1v1 late in the game and hit the frame... we were up 5-1 at that point.

They are impressive, I remember watching a fair bit of Gyokeres and was shocked when he went to Sporting, a good team helps make a great player and no disrespect to Coventry but maybe he needed a better team to show his quality

Beginning of the summer I was leaning a bit towards Sesko but the hemming and hawing on his side again really turned me off. He was physically strong in an distinctly non physical Portuguese league

In the championship which is very physical, he didn’t exactly set the league alight and maybe he’s developed a lot but I still have a doubt and can’t help feeling I would have preferred Sesko for what he could bring

Happy to be proven wrong and Gyok gets 25+… we do create chances so who knows how it’ll go

We've got a guy in Gyokeres who is at the very top in terms of running in behind and receiving progressive passes. The very top in terms of carrying the ball into the penalty area.

That is a completely new dimension to our attack for us to mine... add in Zubimendi at 6 and maybe Odegaard with a bit more freedom. Could be very potent.

I've just watched some highlight reels, which I rarely do, and he scored a hat-trick against C115h, and two were penalties, with each one going on a different side.

He also scores with BOTH feet.

Gyokeres is just what we've needed for three years. I couldn't give a fuck if he's not great in the air. It seems like he's willing to do all the donkey work off the ball, but it's his hard running behind that will stretch the game and give our midfielders and wingers more room to play that will be the real game-changer. Plus, as a striker, he should be there or thereabouts when those crosses are going across the six-yard box. In our team I'd be amazed if he doesn't get 20 per season which is the yardstick of a forward in any season. And hopefully many more!

For me you can look at Gyokeres' goals/assists tally and criticize the strength of the league all you want but if you actually look at his metrics you find that he is a relentless animal with aerial ability being his singular weakness. But this is a guy who will do all the off the ball pressing, runs in behind, and build up- all the while being an elite goal scorer. I have a really hard time believing he will not translate very well to this team and this league.

Really happy this has happened, I would have taken either. What I did think was the Sesko skill set was similar to Kai and that Gok would add something more different to what we have. Arteta now has so many options in Midfield and up front the only player I am not sure we have like for like cover is Ode. We have options but nothing Similar although I think Eze could do a job there. As Andrew said its a massive test for Arteta to keep all the players happy and fit and keep the same quality of performance.

Then thing we've got to keep on top of is keeping our players uninjured. - that may not entirely be down to having lots of them. There may be other factors. The women's team seem to get injured quite a lot too. One does wonder about our pitches as well as being overplayed.
catfishstgermain @ 08:50 | Jul 14, 2025
As an Arsenal fan, as many of us are, if we'd just bought Gyokeres and Zubimendi this window i'd have been stunned at us actually signing a striker and replacing a man credibly accused of multiple rapes. Assuming we do get Gyokeres, Madueke and Mosquera completed alongside Zubimendi and Norgaard we have replaced (upgraded imo) and bolstered pretty much everywhere. If we COULD get the 4 or 5 players we need to sell sold and snatch an Eze...Don't give a fuck about fees, we were dropping 50-70m on lads 5-10 years ago who i knew even less about.

We just finished 2nd twice and reached the CL semi finals. We were top scorers with Havertz up top for a full season because our team works with big strong target who can take attention away from saka and odegaard. MIght all go to shit, the world does that constantly, but this has somehow been a good and sensible window to date.

So he'd still get his "usual" agent's fees on the transfer while trading off his leverage to get the move they always wanted. If that's what he's done, it's a smart piece of work. He did in fact "get it in writing", just a bit more of a complicated structure than the usual release clause.

A bit of an understatement I think. If there isn't widespread elation at this signing I will be surprised. There will always be naysayers and in this social media climate clout-chasers, but much of the stress (at least for me) was the trauma of so many missed opportunities in the past. I even doubted Berta despite that gravitas he instantly brought. But he's getting top marks so far. Can't wait to see Vik on the pitch in an Arsenal kit. The rest of the Prem ain't ready for this!
