Going 'on strike' hasn't helped and has more than likely made them more likely to dig their heels in, which seems fair enough to me. Play with a straight bat, and this may well have been done by now.
And then we have the defenders of our club’s actions saying none of us know what’s really going on so we shouldn’t comment or worse still get angry. But it’s not just a perception that Arsenal draw these transfers out. It’s very clear and it happens year on year.
I wish things could be as slick as in the movies. This Richard Gere clip is a great example of negotiation. But is Gere’s character the Sporting director and the other guy Arsenal? We need Vik, Arsenal get your fucking heads together and seal this ASAP!!

Sporting president Varandas on Gyökeres not showing up for pre-season: “If they don't want to pay Viktor's fair market value, we're very comfortable with that for the next three years”.
“This strategy is also making it more complicated for the player to leave. Nobody is above the interests of the club. Whoever they are”.
“We're calm. Everything will be resolved with the market closing, a hefty fine and an apology to the group”.

Anyway I’ve decided that Turtles All the Way Down by Sturgill Simpson is pure genius. Can’t believe I only discovered it a few weeks ago. Maybe some of y’all will also enjoy it. (Sturgill also gets extra points in my book for being a country artist not afraid to call trump a “fascist f***ing pig”.)

And despite the song’s seeming focus on the drugs he has said it’s not really about that. And he gets further points for denying he’s into “entheogenic bullshit”.

How do Ornstein and Romano develop such dependable contact across the football world? Who do they know that other journos don’t? You’d think clubs would not want them to get their excusives. I get we're not party to the necessary dealings they have to go through and the more complicated nature of dealing with Sporting than with Chelsea. But you'd like to think a club of the standing of Arsenal would have been able to understand and value the optics, the perception of the club, by ensuring that the Gyökeres deal went through.
Feels like next week is crucial in so many ways, not least we get to find out if the Viktor deal goes through and hopefully the Eze deal picks up speed as well. Is it too much to ask that we get this all sorted before pre-season? It would be a rare thing with Arsenal, but I feel the support really needs it and I know they will give back to all the players if we get these last two BIG signings over the line.

The things we 'know' happened in our negotiations for any player ever are media guesswork
Apart from those allowed into the inner circle like Ornstein and Romano, though, much of it is clickbait bullshit.

Yep, all rests on Eze for me. Gyok will get done eventually, but Eze is the game changer & truth be told we haven't had someone in that mould since Alexis Sanchez. Shout out to Saka too of course
northbankfc @ 09:08 | Jul 12, 2025
If it’s something to do with American owners then rather than Berta and Arteta it should be Josh and Stan under the spotlight. They’ve made money available but when it’s a player we really, really need there’s stalling and hard negotiation.
I’m seeing the clips of Madueke, interviews and the like and I think he’s here to reshape the attack, strength, ball carrying and shooting. Totally fine with that and with supporting him now he’s an Arsenal player.
It all rests on the Gyökeres and Eze deals. They seem the most likely and we can only drop the ball from here as they’re both ultra keen to join us. We can’t risk failure over a few million here and there. This is where Berta earns his corn, keeping them at the table while Stan and Josh keep their rusty hands on the purse strings.

Blogs, was the American owners comment made tongue in cheek? Even if it was, there's definitely something off about how we negotiate with Chelsea. Havertz has eventually come good, but we were the only interested club, we pretty much paid what they wanted AND he became our max earner. Madueke, didn't appear to be any other suitors & they've doubled their money on the player in less than 2yrs. And why was there such a rush to get that deal over the line, could have made them sweat but instead we've paid them pretty much what they demanded. 2 very iffy deals to me

It baffles me that we’ve gone so close to their supposed asking price for Madueke knowing how desperate they are to sell, it’s like Partridge negotiating to buy his house
