Fabio is the kinda player Palace could develop if they rate him .. The talent is there. And he would be a cheap makeweight.
This is why I scoff a bit when people suggest we recruit like Palace/Brighton/Brentford do. Yes the theory is great, buy early and develop into stars but the reality... Vieira is still a bit of a waif but at a club like Palace he'd actually get the minutes he needs to develop whereas we're too demanding and can't really do that.

We must increase our team speed. Rodrygo does that and Eze does not. Not sure about Gyokeres, but Sesko absolutely would. Have seen a clip where he takes the ball just north of his defensive box and outruns the defenders to their defensive box. He's got jets. Gyokeres is not slow and his power is exceptional plus he can score like a maniac. So, he's a great consolation prize.

PSG were much faster than we were in the semis. Had we faced them with the same legs we had in October, we might well have beaten them again. Tired legs versus young, fast ones and it meant we barely laid a glove on them.

Let's fix the speed problem wit depth we use and real speed.

I don't know why, but I love debating squad numbers. Current thoughts:

Love Raya #1 and Kepa #13. Typical GK numbers.

Ode needs to take the #10, which he also wears for Norway (and matches his position). If he stays #8, then the new Striker has to take the #10 or #14. Eze currently wears #10 as well and could be a good one to take it.

Zubi was #4 at Real Sociedad, and usually #18 for Spain. Neither are available (unless something happens with Tomi and #18, Ben White isn't gonna lose his #4). I think the #5 makes sense for his position, thought I also think Cala could take the #5, as he also wears it for Italy (not sure if he has any attachment to the #33).

I think MLS should take the #3, typical left back number. If not, also a good option for Cala.

If #10 and #14 stay available (no current squad members switch), then I think the new striker has to take one of them.

Norgaard another possibility for the #5, though I think it will be taken before he can snatch it, so #16 or #20 for him?

Ok, that's all I could spew for now. What an exciting time for new squad numbers!

As did Lyon/Eagle, more or less which I didn’t get at the start.
Michelle Kang bought the Women’s Team. I had no idea she was on the board of Eagle.
But now that following the (still to be appealed) relegation of OL in Ligue 2, Textor has stepped back, who gets nominated as new president of the OL men’s team? Michelle Kang.

When you remember also that mid-season they benefitted from the signing of a player from Botafogo (property of Eagle/Textor), what a fantastic industry football and multi-club ownership in particular is.

I very much like the idea of Eze as he's direct and fast, so gives us an option on that front beyond Martinelli. And I think he'd help against parked buses.
But assuming we get a striker, would he start instead of one of Martinelli, Rice, Haavertz or Odegaard (and maybe Merino in that group too)? If that's not likely, would he want to come?

If he wants to join the party, by all means. I'm not fussy. I just need to see a radical transformation of our attack. I'm willing to see Martinelli, Odegaard, Havertz and Nwaneri develop further. That would be improved by a bona fide striker, winger and a really aggressive No 10 with end product. For all his dinky skill, Odegaard is not doing it for me at the moment, and even if he's captain, we have to upgrade that position.

It could definitely be true , we have seen numerous times how players have been sold well below and sometimes also more expensive than the release clause it all depends on circumstances.
I can only hope it's one of the successful lowballs and not one of the failures. Eze is rightfully prized by Palace. They lost Olise, generally regarded as the better of the two, in a pretty clean transaction with Bayern. I found Eze more eye-catching, Olise was the silky skills, Eze had something more unpredictable about him, in a good way. Why can't we just do smooth big deals. Rice was one of those, but we paid a lot for that deal to go through like it did. We'll keep waiting and hoping...

Ornstein saying we're bidding below the buy-out clause and also saying we're targeting Eze in addition to the striker and winger. I don't know if this is ambition or hubris.
Not sure if its true or not of course but we have always had a perfect history of playing with other people's release clauses and coming away with what we want. Like that time we bid £40,000,001...

Surely if true this is a good thing ??
If true it's an amazing thing (three forwards). But I worry that low-balling CP will not be well received and I'm hearing rumours (denied by those who know) of how Berta treated Partey at Atletico Madrid, offering him low wages. I wonder if he's a little too hard-nosed. If he lands Eze, Sesko and a winger though, I'll be saying take a bow son!

Yeah i believe that 5m£ Kepa whom I've seen for B'mouth is better than 77m£ that gave me joy at Chavs ...
Got some laughs from him at B'mouth as well to be honest but he is a very high quality number 2.

Eze would be a tremendous buy. Skill, athleticism, desire, character. Can see the room for improvement too. I think he can operate anywhere along the three or four behind the striker.

Eze and Šeško would be really satisfying. I’d like more but would be more than happy with that. Nothing less than that really.

Well in Ballsy.
The Shamen performed at Highbury in 1992 and sang that song at half time. They were booed from start to finish because of the drug connection. E's. I seem to remember Sky apologising saying they didn't realise the link to drugs. It was the launch of MNF.
Just saying.

I think the only way we'd get both is if one of Trossard or Martinelli was moving for a big fee.

And as much as I like and would be happy to keep them both, I'm not married to the idea that they have to stay.
