Partey was ever present in our midfield and ever performing in a season when the rest of the midfielders did all but .. people have very short memories.. Declan’s rise came pretty late in the season.....
Zubimendi for Jorginho is an upgrade. It’s vital that if Partey goes we get someone as physically strong and as creative in passing as him. An upgrade on Partey is entirely possible for a manager and scouting team that understands his value. I agree too many fans seem to not see his qualities. The narrative around him has been difficult. But I really hope Arteta doesn’t consider Zubi his replacement. We need so much more there or in the left 8, to give Rice room to rest as well. Merino is a squad player, at £35m an expensive one, but not the creativity and fluidity of the PSG midfield. We need to emulate that set-up.

One of our best performers this season I thought. Not his fault he was right back for some games.

A good player to have in the squad without needing him be a first choice on the team sheet. Depends though what he is expecting in wages as he will probably be looking for a signing on fee wherever he...
Wages is the issue of any for me if the plan is to bench him then his current wages are a stumbling block and considering Jesus is on even more and likely to feature even less I get why we’d move him from a squad building position since Jesus has to stay . But that’s not what I’m reading from posters .. Jesus and Partey together are on like 500-550k/week depending on who to believe . You can get some elite starters for that money.

At the same time there are no guarantees Zubi will be an instant success keeping Partey makes absolute sense.. .. nu again wages .

If Chelsea have grown tired of Lavia and Caceido.. I’ll look into that..

Zubi better hit the ground running..

There has been a wierd narrative about him for some time..

I think we probably can improve the position but not at all easily and he had a pretty good season as a mainstay in a team that came second in PL and to CL semis .. I cant easily name names to replace him ..

And they can pay agent fees to the hilt, I think that's also an integral part of how they can operate; it isn't just the transfer fees and wages, which are pretty visible, but also all the other expenses in the background that are not as visible or easy to quantify.

Yeah, things have moved on very fast. But at the time Arsenal were the richest club in the most important league. And as others have said, the money in the Prem has certainly given the top clubs here access to players that other nations would envy.

Great game for the neutral.
And as for the money: the world's gone to bollox anyway. I suppose it was the same with Trevor Francis going for a million £ in ole 79. The amounts are just higher and funded via ever slimier and obfuscated backwaters.

Meanwhile someone actually bothered to write this on the BBC gossip thing:

"Arsenal will make no attempt to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea after the 30-year-old English winger's underwhelming loan spell with the Gunners."

No way! Glad we got the inside info on that one...
northbankfc @ 08:37 | Jun 1, 2025
You twice missed a chance to sound like Gen Z and write “I’m not gonna lie” 😊

Great team, great city, great fans. Only just seen the massive tifo with “Free Palestine” on it. Cynics will say that it makes sense since the owners are from Qatar!

I’m sanguine about the money. We’re not on that level, but we do the same to clubs below us when we can, we’re hardly poor, and tbh PSG were dominating their league well before the oil money started to flow.

To think we could have got Enrique instead of Arteta at one point. He has created an exciting, flowing team that works hard off the ball as well, up there with the best… like us.

We matched them more than any other team, even Liverpool. But we didn’t have the firepower (even if Havertz had been fit). We might rue bad luck but I think they were just a level above us.

A shame we were deprived of a PSG v Barca final but I think Barca would have shaded it. But there you go, oil money aside ai thoroughly enjoyed seeing a performance like that. Inter put everything into that semi-final and aged a 100 years in 90 minutes. No love lost. This is a great PSG side… and we’re gonna enjoy beating them next year with our three-pronged attack of Gyökeres, Šeško and Säķà!
