We can't keep complaining about lack of depth and saying this one has to leave or that one has to leave. Apart from Tierney, Jorginho and possibly Zinchenko leaving, we need to be adding to the squad....
This is the issue with the forward line and thinking we'll buy more than one forward is a reach imo. There is player depth, it's just of questionable quality and gonna be hard to shift any of them on due to injuries and big contracts

We've got three positions and six players currently

Trossard - in talks about a new deal
Martinelli - not suited to our slow tempo but also don't see him going anywhere
Havertz - biggest earner. Going nowhere.
Jesus - out until Jan. On £250k a week. Going nowhere
Saka - no brainer
Nwaneri

Well none of those have been in the squad this season, so moving them on is no real loss. I'm talking more about "cashing in" on Kiwior, swap deals involving Havertz for Rodrygo etc. We need to keep them, for me the likes of Havertz should be relegated to a squad player, and bring in better players for the first XI.

Why wasn't this more obvious to some last summer?! People actually contended that a back-up midfield of Jorginho and Nwaneri (who Arteta himself deemed unready) was sufficient.

Absolutely delighted the women won yesterday--fantastic and well-deserved result for the players, the manager, her staff, and the club as a whole.

On a more recent note, it is disgusting that the confluence of gross incompetence and corruption of the PGMOL has gifted NUFC its much-needed influx of Champions League booty next season. There's no such thing as karma--especially where money is exchanging hands--but, if there was, then that club would be denied progress in the competition due to Isak being suspended on account of a dubious second yellow card given in the first half for delaying the restart away at Barcelona before a do-or-die final group stage match in Munich. FFS, how long can . . . THIS*. . . go on?

*read "this" with utmost disgust and derision, of the kind usually withheld for rulers of murderously oppressive nation states, and, indeed, the PGMOL and its protected class of unquestionable Mancunian white dudes.

We hope Berta has more success.
mike1 @ 18:28 | May 25, 2025
Happy to see the back of this season.

Objectively, it was successful without winning a trophy, but our expectation was a Premier League title, and we were a long way off. The were contributory reasons for this, but the root causes have been well known for a long time - no striker, no cover for Saka and inadequate squad rotation. It's the known problems that really hurts, the ones that weren't unexpected or out of our control.

Oddly enough, the lot down the road winning a cup doesn't bother me at all. There is undoubted irritation that a team that is so abysmal, will walk into the Champions League , league phase, but they are so poor that they are basically ballast.

3rd consecutive second place, 10 points behind, not as out of sight condidering. And turning five draws into wins and maybe one loss into a draw was doable. Šeško last summer instead of Sterling would arguably have made that difference. We’ll need more still with Liverpool already strengthening. So it’s on to next season after some rest.

That story Blogs told this morning about his neighbour and a fellow Arsenal fan Freya leaving so young. That’s heartbreaking and I’m sure yesterday must have meant so much more to her family and a reminder to savour all these moments, they’re not a given, they’re a blessing, and yes we’re blessed to be part of this Arsenal family.

Well in Brucie, welcome back mate. Well blogged Blogs. Normal service has resumed.

Congrats to the Arsenal Women. Champions of Europe certainly has a nice ring to it. Next season for the lads? We shall see.

Meanwhile The Saints are thus far proving to be too much to overcome. Another draw. Oh well this season can fuck off. At least KT got his farewell goal, be nice if the lads could go on and win it, even though it won't make a difference to the table.

Football has become very expensive, but if you look at the crowd shots during WSL matches, you see loads of kids and families who are priced out of the men's game. My fear is that if the women's game catches on to the point where it becomes equally expensive, that this opportunity to see live football may be closed for many. As an old man (71 in a few weeks) I probably won't live to see it happen. Enjoy it while you can.

I thought it had more to do with men being at war and sports leagues being stopped during that period so, as women were taking on traditionally male jobs in the workplace, they also did it on football pitches https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zjxywty

Just popping in to say it’s really cool that Arseblog does have so much coverage of the women’s game and fair play to Tim Stillman for the work he does.

I don’t have the brain space for any more football so only see the women’s stuff from afar but often saw negative comments and never understood anyone’s vitriol towards the women’s game.

Football is fucking ace tfor everyone to play and watch and the fact that previous generations of people in charge had actually banned women’s football was scandalous and if that had never happened who knows where the women’s game would be today.

Even if it’s only a small part, what Arseblog and Stillman have done to support the women’s game to bring it to a wider Arsenal audience is brilliant as they should be proud

As you were

What also bothers me is that winning the Champions League isn't just something to be celebrated and enjoyed, it's seen by the club as a bonus revenue stream to be pounced on asap. Quick, let's get the commemorative merch out! Yes, there's bound to be a demand, but it does seem like indecent haste, as if the commercial department were hanging on through the seven minutes of added time just so they could hit the button to upload the Champions gear to the online shop. But either way WE WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!
