Well, let me tell you (as they might say in Ireland)
I was not despondent at all...I had a great season of mainly highs, with a couple of lows for balance. And after the final whistle, I took my three dogs (who have suffered as much as I have); for a long yomp across the fields in the beautiful evening sunshine. Unfortunately, I couldn't grab a swifty or ten in the Swimmer, the Ché or the Tollie...but I did corral Mrs Shannon and open a couple of bouteilles of Merlot. Unfortunately, she is on crutches, due to her doing a wheelie in her hotel reception last week... but, you know.... hopefully this ends well?!!

I also believe these are the most pertinent areas for recruitment.

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to not want another Wrighty; the problem is there either isn't one, or they are almost impossible to get.

Two years ago we were 8th. Today at half time we were a 2 goal swing away from huge success. Come the summer transfer shenanigans we will be hugely attractive. The squad needs to widen so that we can rest players on occasions. We do need an out and out striker. It’s not in all games - our goals for column is very good - but we lost some points this season because of poor finishes on goal in certain games. We are very very close and you never know, when those 115 charges are dealt with, we may have another two titles coming our way.

One or more of these need to offer significant speed and, preferably one needs to be able to carry the ball and offer an element of creativity.
A back up for Gabriel is also needed and, dependent on how Timber is used, a leftback.

I'd put a striker behind the first two.

To be fair, Toney has had to think about talking himself into the spotlight for a move to a big club. He's been waiting for an almighty dust-up between the Premier League big boys before they're joined by Real Madrid, Bayern, Juventus and PSG fighting it out for the 'English Mbappe'
The problem is, he forgot that he's not putting the ball in the back of the net and no club matches his assessment of himself.

Remember: anytime someone brings up, City's "net spend" concerning the charges of financial doping, it is a straw man. The issue is the wages they pay on the back of the sweetheart sponsorship deals with affiliated companies that pumped cash into the club. Case in point: Haaland was cheap in terms of a transfer fee because no other club could pay him what City pays him.

NBC in USA is comparing City's run to all-time great runs of consecutive titles won by the Celtics in the NBA and the Yankees in baseball. (ffs, they didn't break league rules 115 times during their runs--not a word about that)

It was McMahon holding up one finger to the other players to indicate one minute left and then Barnes showed his football brain and instead of taking it into the corner he coughed it up unnecessarily. Very warm evening and the garden doors were open. When the goal was scored I could hear the yelling from houses backing on to ours

1989 I remember it so well, despair to total joy in an instant.
Whatever happens today (which will probably be not a lot as Oilers steamroller WHU), what a team and manager we have now and what pleasure they have given us this season.

Yup, one team gets the League/CL every season. Going to be City, probably 2 points ahead of us, and (again probably) Real Madrid.

Demanding trophies is lunacy. Demanding we do everything possible to try and win them is fine.

Parti hopefully got his dirty diesel out but jorgi give immediate control and that incisive pass when they sit deep.

Probably start Parti as with Onana , gaya and doucure they are big old. Bruisers
Hopefully Onana doesn't take this as an audition for move to us but he was superb in games last year, dunno much about him but he does seem to be a middling kind of an egg with massive ego and maybe too much me fein too him in order to fit in our style

You're about to experience poetic justice like you never have before David. The ex-Spurs man soon looked brassed off which for him had all sorts of lyrical connotations.
Aldridge, the pound-shop Ian Rush, and his bad grace with fellow countryman O'Leary.

Kevin Richardson was the unsung hero. We were pushing up for the second goal and got caught on the break. Only Rico got back to defend, did enough to put the Mugsmasher off, and pulled a muscle in doing so. Play was stopped while he was treated, and this was when all the handshaking and high-fiving happened. When play resumed, Liverpool were completely disorganised and stretched the entire length of the pitch.

The other bonus of Thomas's goal was that it came after co-commentator and ex-Spud manager David Pleat had summarised the match which made him look an even bigger arsehole.

Mikel’s boys will be nervous but focused on their task today. Just get the job done, encapsulate the spirit of ‘89 and get their 89 points. What an achievement and then we just pray for the rest.

A friend mentioned to me that the Arse match is on TNT while the Citeh is on Sky. “Football for everyone!”, eh? yeah right! Or just those that now have to have two subscriptions to keep switching between games? Think I’ll find a gooner friendly pub.

The current use of the slang "bottle" comes from there. Since we're hoping that our Eastern neighbours get a result today, it seems right to use some rhyming slang.

97/98 all over we lift League at home v Everton .that's all that's in my head .

Will we see a motivated Westham and do it for moysey, do it for Dec attitude or will they lie out flat on their Dec chairs.
I think from selfish point of view there's a performance in westham , be it the keeper looking for French place, ward prowse and Bowen pushing for English inclusion, Paqueta and Kudus reminded everyone of their undoubted talent and looking to get moves to more competitive teams, all options and either way stars align couldn't be prouder of out boys, been a powerhouse of mental fortitude, machine like results but yet football played in the arsenal way , been a great mix, the Xmas results could be our downfall but remedy to that is a new striker or forward to further enhance us next season .
